I'm developing a world for use by schools, It has a large building with four arenas where pupils can complete challenges.
I managed to pick up a virus (first time in about 20 years!) that in the end required a Windows refresh. So saved out the myworlds folder refreshed and reinstalled MEE but the worlds would not load because apparently saved by a later version than the most recent build I downloaded to install.
So, potentially 100's of hours of work and development trapped. I followed the vid about swapping the DB folder for one from a world created by the more recent instance of MEE but no luck.
After transferring the myworld files into the new instance of MEE I can view all worlds saved by both my previous installation of MEE and the regular version of Minecraft I had stored on my PC. The installation of the regular version preceded the installation of MEE. It is clear then that in my installation the regular Minecraft and MEE have been sharing resources.
The world browser in my new installation of MEE "sees" all of the worlds I had saved in regular MEE and these worlds load correctly in MEE. Anything I had created previously in MEE will not load. Previously both versions only "saw" the versions created by that version. Significant I think?
Any new worlds I create in MEE load correctly.
So, my concern is now this. If I manage to find a work-around to get my previous Challenge Arena world to load, this does not necessarily mean that it is going to be something I can share does it? - which was the whole point of the project.
My heart is sinking somewhat - I've devoted inordinate amount s of time to this and I really don't think I have the capacity to start again at this late stage. Eeek!
Just to add.... I noticed how the world browser does not pick up the level name for worlds created in my previous version of MEE, but does pick up the names of those created in regular Minecraft. Interestingly the text files for the MEE worlds level names has been changed to "My World". Even if I edit the level name and check that it is saved before and after I try and run the world (the change is persistent) the World browser in game does not pick up the name.
If there is any help for this out there I would be grateful to to be pointed towards it please. Thank you.
