there are several data packs that I would like to use on my Minecraft server but they have separate resource packs with separate models and textures. is there a way for me to use multiple texture packs on a server? if not is there a way to merge them into one pack safely without corrupting or breaking the models and textures
I know this is a two year old thread but I came across this post by mistake while looking for something else. I created an account to come here and say, as of July 2024 you can indeed use multiple resource packs at once to force server side. I've only got it to work with 3 different packs at once and there's a 250 MB limit.
Requirements:
- An Aternos account (you don't need it for your server, only to get some info)
- Whatever packs you want fully downloaded on your computer
Instructions:
1. Within Aternos create a free server. After this tutorial you don't need it.
2. After creating the server and starting it, within the dashboard/panel go to the Options tab on the left hand side.
3. Scroll down to the Resource Pack section at the bottom. Click on it and upload your packs one by one (uploading too many once might make the website freeze).
4. After getting all your packs uploaded, reorder to your liking similar to the menu in the Minecraft settings.
5. Copy the link it generates for you and paste it in your server properties file just like normal.
6. Launch your server to see if it works.
Note: In case it wasn't clear you don't need an Aternos server to do this. For example my server is from Rocketnode. You need an account for Aternos in order to get the generated link for the combined resource packs. There may be another way to do this but this is the only way I know hence why I'm sharing.
you can! it would just overlay each other like when you the first one top is the main one while the others just fills in the gap because the first one may don't have that model or texture so it would fill in

it is impossible to merge them because there is only ONE thing that can be used unless you decide to make a block with multiple different texture sides

Merging them is all up to you, no tool does it for you.
And using multiple is not possible, you can make the player download only one resource pack at once.
The only workaround is to give the players the ability to download them for themselves.
Be sure to warn that automatically unzipping zip folders is highly risky for their device, as resource packs have to be built to work as-is.
