I can play Minecraft Battle Mode locally, but not online with other people because it keeps saying "Connection to server is lost" on my XBOX. I am currently upset. Do you need XBOX Live Gold to play?
Xbox Live Gold is required for all Online functionality.

On my xbox it wont let me play battle mode online and it keeps saying im offline even though i can play online on all other games...anyone else having these problems on mc xbox one???
I have a similar problem. When looking for players to play the mini games I get a timeout error and I am not able to find anyone to play with. I do have Gold and I am able to play any other game online effectively. Is anyone having this issue still after the latest updates?
I'm not sure but for me it keeps saying connection to sever was lost as well i don't have Xbox live gold either but if you do need Xbox live gold it not fair to people who have the full game but don't have enough money to get Xbox live gold because you would need it to get all of the achievements for minecraft because to get a few of the achievements you have to go on a public game of battle

Oh yeah, to anyone out there who does not know how to get regular (not gold) xbox live, first you get a microsoft account on xbox.com, then you hit the sigh up button on your xbox, then type in your Microsoft username and password, then put your age (must be over 18 or else you need parent parent permission), then create it! It will give you a random gamertag, but you can change it once for free! THEN GET GAMING P.S, if it does not work like it did not for me just ask someone.

If you're on Xbox one i've heard Xbox gold is required but I'm not sure.

Yeah. I tried it without Xbox Live Gold and it didn't l me go online. It only let me play splitscreen with my sister.
But the thing is that I do have Xbox live gold

Hmm, you might need to press the online game function when you create the game.
