(Played on PS3) Other than the occasional connection issue, I'm really liking this 'Battle' thus far. However, there still are quite a few issues that I feel should be ironed out.
- Penalize Teaming and Cross Teaming: There isn't much that's more annoying and frustrating than having a 3 or 4-way team gang up on you and run time off the clock. Perhaps a mode designed specifically for teams should be added?
- Less lag: The lag in some games can be intense. Very intense. I have a very good connection, so it certainly isn't something on my end. Any more than 6-ish players makes the game nearly unplayable (in my opinion). The lag also renders some items, namely Bows, practically useless. The latency can be jarring an can destroy the momentum of a match.
- More Custom Options: It seems that in the event that ibxtoycat attended, there seemed to be many options for you to customize your game. It'd be great to not only see those added, but a few more options as well. A custom player limit can decrease the lag significantly, the ability to change the value of chest contents can make games very interesting, and the ability to choose what texture pack you want to play in can switch up the game.
- Leaderboards: No one checks the leaderboards, but it'd be nice if there were statistics for some things. The amount of kills you get, the amount of damage you've dealt or taken, and the amount of times that you've won should go into the leaderboards.
Other than those few gripes, the first of (hopefully) many minigames has fared well so far. When you get the chance, do add the 1.9 Combat, no matter how much most of the community whines. Stand your ground.
Other then some major lag issues on a few occasions I'm having a lot of fun so far.
Also i noticed when you enter the battle you enter in whatever position you were in on the lobby, if you were crouching you'll be crouching when you enter, i think that includes what direction you were facing as well.
There is a place in the cove map where you can get stuck with no way to get out by yourself until the end of the match or someone kills you, it's behind a tree near one of the red X's.
"My first impression of Minecraft: Battle Mini Game was a nice improvement to the console edition. It brought a new fast paced game mode to Minecraft. Which I think was much needed for this game so now you don’t have to do the planning for a world you are going to play the next month but can jump into a game immediately and battle people around the world.
Here are my thoughts positive and negative. I really like how the spawn is and the timers you have for the game. It adds a more realism and gives it that extra punch. It seems there is some type of easter egg in the spawn which is cool too.
Unfortunately, there is a good amount of issues with this game mode but that’s to be expected as its brand new. First I don’t really understand nor like the chest sound and corner animation that happens. Also with hosts kicking the winners or whoever kills them is a serious issue and something needs to be done about that. There are a few bugs in the game but I’m sure you are aware of them and will get them fixed as soon as possible.
I do have some pretty good ideas for improvements I do think you should seriously consider. Firstly, I believe it would be interesting if there was a way for people to open up secret areas on a map to get into areas with a special chest. Like blowing away a metal gate with a TNT drop from a chest or to hit 3 levers in a map to open the area up. Secondly, then instead of having to hit select to see who is alive and dead it should show a live player count on the left side of the screen showing the number of alive players. Thirdly, if we had some type of leaderboard for this mode that would be nice to see how you compare. Showcasing damage given, damage taken, win/ lose ration etc. And lastly, it would be really interesting to see how much damage you do when you hit someone. So instead of just showing the red showing you damaged them. It would show how many hearts of damage were actually caused by the player inflicting it.
Now hosting and matchmaking are big issue on this game. We really need the Realm servers to run these types of things. I have tried to host these mini-games in public mode but find it takes almost an hour before anyone joins and I have incredibly good and reliable internet. Then when I join a game either the game is laggy, the host kicks you, or connection to the game ends right after the winner is chosen. But this isn’t all the time just most of the time. And this is in no way correlates to my internet connection.
I would also like to add it would be a really nice addition if we could have the in game player dashboard like the one in the battle mini game in our survival worlds. The one in the mini game are easy to read and list the players neatly. And if you could add player hearts as in life on it too that would be a really helpful tool to have. Would be a good addition in the host options.
I hope this information is useful. I have been an avid Minecraft fan since 2011 and have run one of the most popular servers for the Xbox One. Also being part of the Minecraft community as a Moderator on the Minecraft forums. Thanks for reading."
Chests at the center of map should not refill. Seeing to many people camping the center area.
There also needs to be a take all option. I've had to many instances where I get to the chest, and try to take everything, and before I can, someone else has emptied the chest completely.
Additionally, I would like to see a change that makes it where, once you get to a chest and open it, it's yours, no one else can see into that chest or take anything from it.
One last change. I was just in a match, and it ended while there were three people still on the map. Despite this however, the game decided to declare that one of the players won the match, when it should have been declared a Draw. If there's more than one player on the map when the match ends, the match should end in a Draw.
How about a voting system so it's still there but more of a fail safe in case people are cheating somehow.
I thought about that, but that's not really safe either. What if you get into a game and it's some guy and his buddies and they decide to kick you for no reason other than you being there?
Also, in the last match, I had a piece of cooked Porkchop in my hand and it just vanished. I didn't eat it. It just disappeared.

Well I don't think there is a way that will fix the kicking issue all the way. My only thought would be is if there was actual dedicated servers so that it was like a real multiplayer game where you just search a game to join. Then add a report system so that bad players can be reported and be dealt with accordingly.

Dedicated servers would be way better than hosted servers, as the host could just end the match by quitting the game.

As much as I like this idea. How how this report system work? Would there be a bad sport lobby? There's alot of underlying flaws with the minigame which wouldn't exist if there was good sportsmanship.
I think it would work just like most reporting systems work on the consoles. After so many reports either they won't be able to join the servers, talk in game chat, or be participate in some form of another. And maybe look at a "bad sportsmanship lobby". Xbox Live does it, when you have been reported so much they put you with other "bad" players. No it won't fix every issue but it gives you an incentive to not be a bad player in the games, mini game or even normal survival.

I would rather they not have any sort of kicking or vote-to-kick system because, and this just me being paranoid I guess, there's too much room for it to be abused. And when you toss the Reporting system for Xbox Live or PSN into the mix, there's even more opportunities for that system to be abused.
Here's an example: Say I join a server, and it's one guy hosting it and a number of his friends. They decide they don't want me in their game, so they all vote to kick me out, then they go and report me for bad sportsmanship, when literally all I did was join their lobby.
This is why I personally feel that Player Hosted servers should be replaced with dedicated servers hosted by 4J.

Some may not agree with me but when I jump into some Battlemode games it usually puts me in a session that has just started or is in the middle of a game (So I have to spend 5-10 minuets there depending how long the session goes for) waiting for the round to end so I can properly join in.
I was wondering if it'll be possible to tweak the settings and see if we can only get people to join in the lobby and NOT at the start or middle of a Battle mode game. I can get a little impatient and sitting there waiting for the game to end isn't fun.
Other than that. My Battle experience has been fine lately but In an update I would like to see Teams if possible, it'll probably fix the teaming issue that everyone is doing in the games also.
and the kicking is not fun when i play and i kill the host he kicks me when we are in the lobby 4j pleas make a kick voting system when the host wants to kick someone that all the players that are in the game can vote if he could be kicked
The problem as I stated in a previous post is that there's way too much room for a vote to kick option to be abused.

So i've noticed what imo a pretty annoying problem, the fire sword, why does something this strong have to always spawn with an enchantment this devastating?
Whenever i see someone win 9 times out of 10 they'll be holding either the fire sword or fire pickaxe.
Console Battle is two games rolled into one: gambling (whether or not you get one of the OP weapons) and betting (which teammate won't turn on you, since teaming is pretty much a requirement to kill off another team)! Of course, it's not all chance; at its core, Battle is about triumphing and defeating other players... by kicking them out if they win to make yourself feel better.
I went to search for a Battle Match. I couldn't join because I was previously kicked . (just for joining). Then, the host exited right when I joined. THEN, the game simply lost connection. 3 searches without finding a match.
Why not add a Flow Search option? If it can't join a specific game, it'll just keep searching. If it can't find any games on the specific categories you chose, you'll be able to change the Battle preferences.
This will finally stop the constant re-searching to find a game, which becomes irritating when it occurs consistently. Thanks for reading :3

I really like that idea.
Yay! Y'all took my idea I really wanted implemented: no kicking during game and only in lobby
I'd prefer it if they took out kicking all together.

Whenever i see someone win 9 times out of 10 they'll be holding either the fire sword or fire pickaxe.
I have 2 problems, and a wolf ain't one.
1. Teams. This has been discussed frequently, and I've already talked about it.
2. L A G .
I spawn into the arena. Leaning foward. Thumbs in position. Ready to pounce!!
Wait, the timer isn't starting. 9...............8...........7......
Ugh.
6......4,2, 1 START!!
What?? Gotta get the chests! They've been taken already?! Come on, they take 5 seconds to open!
14, 12, 11.... 9, 7..
I'M DOOMED.
*killed by a guy with an iron pickaxe*
A scenario like this happens all too often. After invunrability wears off, THEN it runs fine. The countdown is important too!
Does this happen to you guys?
