I am new here so not sure if this is the right section.
So has anyone succeeded in making a printer that takes input from a chest, and prints out an image, without using a single command block? No mods allowed.
if you ever wanna see it in action - go to my 'home server' (NOT mine) shearcraft.nl
and that printer above me isn't survival friendly
I'm usually arround 6-8 PM greenwich time, but the 7th of december I'm 24/7 online xD because vacation
and I'm a redstoner, not a youtuber, so no epic short movies here
this is how it works:
it dispenses a wool block in the massive storage cylos (the gold thingies) then a flying machine goes back and forth to drop the wool (or glass) block in the printer, and he pushes it so you get a 1D, then 2D and after a long while 3D picture :P, I'm currently working on a 25x25 colored pixel screen, come and look if you want!
That my friend... is a work of art wow. I would love to talk about how you accomplished that, and a colored pixel screen?!?!? amazing I'm definitely going to pm you or something as this has been something I've been thinking of how to accomplish for ages!
Kudos to you for actually building such a machine, incredible!
The idea of a printer is to input colors into a chest, put it through a block sorter, and then have a block of the requested color be pushed into position using pistons. It sounds simple, but it can be surprisingly complex to design. Snapshot 17w06a of update 1.12 brought gravity-affected concrete powder blocks.

Gee, What a friendly, welcoming forum! :-( I guess I will be taking my question elsewhere...
How in the world would someone detect what is in a chest?? With *redstone*?????
