As mentioned before. I have a temporary birch tree farm at the back of the church where I'm building the new one. [Church.] Chopping and planting saplings at different times so they grow at different times, suffice to say I have a nice rhythm now and the work has been going fast - very fast! If ever I have to wait for trees to grow, I also have a temporary spruce tree farm outside the boarded up old church so I can work on the roof of the new bridge at the same time after the old 201O cobble one was recently demolished.
Early work old church length (Inner walls) Vs new church length (Right, straddling the mountain wall:
Church, we've got you surrounded!
Clearance of the old church and building the fourth wall:
Unfortunately, after doing this I realized I had made a mistake. It was easy to build in my creative copy of the world but when I went to do it in the actual survival world I realized after all this work I'd ballsed it up. I hadn't put the new entrance where the original one was, thus, it was far too over to the right and over lapping (literally overhead) the path down to the dock. Which also mean it wasn't far enough into the mountain enough and window holes might have to be moved along. After realizing where I'd gone wrong I think I've gotten away with it. The new entrance is where the old one was but the whole building is still a little more over to the right than planned, but nowhere near as much as the mess up. I might still have to add landscaping though and think of a new route down to the dock.
Map changes (Left side of map):
Existing church surrounded by new walls
Amended after the corrections, you can see the rounded entrance by the two prong wooden dock sticking into the ocean.

AFTER:
Long shots from the back of my mountain home + observation deck of mountain home higher up, overlooking the new (W.I.P.) bridge and the church construction.
In other news, I traveled to the Mesa biome (A very good, long distance away) via Lucky - my donkey, and as I went the rest of the way by boat a new chunk loaded and caught my eye! It loaded a mesa biome - probably continuing what was already in the area, and out of curiosity I went to that one instead of the usual one and I'm so glad I did! I kept finding natural red sandstone placed - forgetting it spawned naturally in Mesa's now so that's a relief and there's also the new stone types there! It means slightly less travelling (2000m+ as apposed to 4 - 6000m) to get both natural red sandstone and the new stone types also found a overground dungeon exposed just inside a hole of a mesa mountain. Apart from the other loot - bread, iron ingots, I got name tags galore! I flipped out!
Now all my horses and donkey are officially named!
The next update won't be for a while, unless anything major happens; maybe a week from this entry,

OH MY GOSH! your home is the best home i have ever seen in my life! i have already a house of gold+emerald+diamond blocks with 6 beacons in the roof, in a BIG desert village, a home in a big forest with about ~50,000 iron ingots, over 500 diamonds, a lot of mods, but i never thought my home were beatiful like your i were already ******* rich in terms of ores and other rare items, but i never thought my home as beatiful
a 4.2 year old! my score was almost a year, because every time i update my minecraft, i have to make a world from scratch because of the mods missing IDs...
congratulations anyway
THINKING WELL! I'M GOING TO TRY TO CONTINUE WITH THE SAME WORLD IN DIFERENT VERSION OF MINECRAFT! I'LL JUST CHANGE THE STUFF IDs FROM THE NEW VERSION TO MATCH THE IDs FROM THE OLD VERSION! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!
Good luck! Mine's not really overly fancy, it's all natural builds there's no pixel art, no big redstone contraptions , in that sense it could be considered quite plain. I have considered a beacon but I'd have to get to a level to get looting III on a sword just to get the with skulls, Recently the other day I stepped of the end of the bridge after taking pictures (Church end) and just saw a creeper out of the corner of my eye. I survived the blast but stpidly leapt down after the dirt blocks below (Where the underground minecart route is) without thinking about my xp. I went from 24 down to 7, currently back up at about 13.
I also forgot to mention the changes in design as I go along - and I dare not edit the post or it'll eat the spoilers.
Church - Originally the pillars were only meant to be on the outside (Yet to be added), the inside ones were never a factor, but I wanted to mix it up and give it more depth inside rather than just plain flat walls,
Bridge - In the original design (On a creative copy of the world) I kept the inner flat jungle plank roof you see in the pics above, in a change to the original design I will be removing this once the roof is complete. Which it nearly is. I want to be able to see the pitched roof from inside, and in another change might add log roof trusses on the inside as well, for extra decoration. I still have a lot of old oak fences to change to jungle ones yet and might have a lower platform underneath the bridge for fishing as opposed to sticking them on the side of the main bridge as originally intended.

Being a nerd is nothing to be ashamed of. Nerds rule the world! Who invented the internet? Nerds. Who created personal computers and smart phones? Nerds. Who made every video game you've ever played and ever will? Still nerds. Who sent probes to distant planets? Nerds, nerds and more nerds! I'm a nerd and I'm proud.
The only mods I've ever used in this world are aesthetic ones (Water shaders, shaders) and tools (Rie's Minimap). Until the recent 1.8 move I was using "Enderman don't pick up blocks" as I hate seeing lots of holes in the terrain - especially when your in a mountain area. It didn't give me anything I didn't have however, or any sort of advantage.

Wow that's an amazing world, I truly wish I could build like this and stay with a world for so long.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack

Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

Amazingly detailed thread for an even more amazingly detailed world. The "Tile" effect by the pool is very creative. The views are spectacular. And the level of detail on the inside with all of the various different types of styling and architecture is great.
Is the "Large" Map on the wall a mod? In straight up vanilla maps can only be displayed using item frames right? I l really like to display maps of the immediate area.
So much to see I can't even mention it all. The observations towers, the working shower, the science lab, and the secret bunny room behind the coyote painting is super creative. I hope to share a Survival World I have been working on soon, but it is 1.8 so I won't have nearly the amount of time and effort put in.
The large map in the Enchament room is completely vanilla, a total of 9 maps on items frames in a 3 x 3 formation with glowstone behind them. Inspired by Chimneyswift11's map room in his Minecraft Files series.

Is there medieval you think? I certainly have taken advantage more of the hardened clay since we got it, especially inside the house. I try to limit wooden buildings as much as possible (The Minecart launcher outhouse near the bridge, the barn, the church - that was/is deliberately done in a quaint white paneled USA style church).
All i know is, back in 2010 when I started I used to build everything in cobble, things started to change in Beta/later beta - 1.0. The more different woods, stone blocks/types, clay we've got the more it's evolved. I guess it's going modern, not ultra modern more - smart modern.

I love this. i love everything about this. this makes me happy. I love it. I love the private garden under the vip room and your cabin house and just everything about this is great.

Construction update II!
Once again work has been going at a very fast rate on the new re-build of the church,. Last time the walls were just above the upper windows except for the front wall. Not only has the front facing wall [Towards the ocean] been finished but I have been busy with the roof trusses. The temporary birch tree farm was changed to spruce and a high (of the ground) dangerous game began making the trusses - with lots of sneaking!
Unfortunately, when I did this in my creative copy of the world, the trusses reached a perfect peak with a central log beam running underneath it, here something went wrong meaning I had to have to parallel log beams instead. I only figured out why they were wrong after all the trusses were finished.
My mistake was that the windows were meant to be four high, I did them at 3. After all that work it meant I would have to chop all the base beams of the roof trusses down (Which I did) and add another layer of birch to the walls all around so I could place the beams one block higher than they were. Still can't work out how I got that perfect point in creative but I think I kind of like the parallel beams.
The temporary tree farm has returned to burch but is now hidden outside the back of the church where I also dug a three wide corridor behind for access.
I can make the ground look more natural later.
For the roof the intention has always been to use the new red sandstone, but that's going to require a lot of red sand to convert to red sandstone and then stairs. I traveled to the mesa again and brought back two stacks/two & 1/2. Whilst there I went travelling to see if there was any way to get to the mesa by land IE any adjoining land to it instead of keep going across by boat and leaving my donkey, Lucky. Thankfully there is if you travel for a bit, so I found more red sand and even a small mesa plateau at the top of one mesa mountain.
In the last picture you'll see I've started detailing on the outside with an upper ledge (Birch stairs) much higher upm work is going well and now it's a race to get the building water tight before I can begin inside.
I also finally added a bank of hoppers at the bottom of the piston automated wheat farm so everything has a hopper to fall into now.
