What are some of your favorite block combinations when building a houses and buildings. I personally like a classic look with stone bricks and wood planks. I'm looking for good ideas for the next house in my town.
Accent Block is listed Second:
Sand or Sandstone/Stone bricks or Stone Slabs,
Nether Brick/Stone Slabs,
Clay/Stone Bricks or Stone Slabs
Sandstone/ Spruce Wood,
Snow/Nether Bricks
Sandstone/ Nether Brick
Clay/ Spruce Wood
Sandstone/Clay bricks
Snow/Cobble
Clay/Cobble
Wood/Cobble
Glass/Cobble
Soulsand/Iron Blocks(only in a band on the 3 block up)
Sandstone/Smoothstone (Stripes)
Personal Favorite Combinations:
Clay, Stone Slabs With Soulsand Roof!
Sandstone,SpruceWood, Soulsand Roof!
Some are abit time consuming to pull off in survival (anything with Clay does >_<),but they look great using the basic accent of a pillar as the corner block.
I wonder what other combinations people use, I wanna do a showcase in one of my worlds letting people know different Block combos this is a good place to learn!
1. Spruce logs, and wood planks
2. Sandstone, snow, and nether brick
3. Brick,nether brick
4. Stone brick, brick
5. Wooden planks, smooth stone
That's my top five
I like the look of glass, obsidian and iron block combo. I play survival hard. Also like to use netherrack as lighting and accent the house with soul sand.
Mmm yes I was using stone bricks and wooden planks for my castle, looks very nice.
Should I change some bricks to cracked and mossy?
I haven't acquired a taste for the mossy stone and mossy stone brick. It may be that I havent used it in the right setting yet. I'm building a town with big houses and when I used moss stone for the base walls I didn't care for it. Once I move on to my castle I might change my mind.
hmm, interesting to see what you're all into building with for sure.
personally, my first build on a fresh survival map would be - stone brick base / corners with cobble accents / oak or spruce framing and planks in between
some others i like:
clay brick / sandstone and spruce
netherbrick / sandstone
cobble and planks for cheap temp buildings like mine storage and outposts
Sandstone as flooring, block of quartz for walls, birch wooden planks for ceiling, pane windows, glowstone bedding for miniature indoor pools of water, bushes (oak wood; oak leaves) on the inside and outside, iron doors with stone buttons, fence posts with torches on them right next to the front door on the outside. Wherever there is a workbench, have a trapdoor right next to it, and level it with the workbench to use it like a table or a shelf, and then place a bush (1 oak wood, 1 or more oak leaves on top) to support the other side of the trapdoor. So, there is a bush on one side and a crafting table on another. This looks REALLY cool, in my opinion! And then, of course, you may want to use some quartz/sandstone stairs and slabs to eliminate that feeling of a giant box for a house. And, obsidian flooring is my favorite when it comes to enchanting rooms.

Carry on.
