So, from what I understand, based on a lack of information in the OP, you stand on a block of bedrock, and then try to break it? In vanilla minecraft bedrock is completely invincible, or so it's lead to believe. If it isn't, you'd be sitting there for hours holding your mine/attack button.
After I successfully got a base set up (built with a large mine, sugarcane farm, pumpkin farm, melon farm, garden, tree farm, craft room, storage room, lobby, mob farmer, smelting room, lighthouse observatory, and a nether portal,) everything started running smoothly. However, it began to rain and I slid off of the block and fell. Final time: 4 hours, 59 minutes, 51 seconds.
Here's a real idea (that I'm too lazy to put into action): Make a parkour survival map....The farther you go, the better supplies you get, and at the very end, there's a huge but empty base on a fairly large plot of floating land.
