Merry Christmas everyone!
In the spirit of Christmas I'm running a half price offer on registration for MineBack Ultimate (http://mineback.kvkconsultancy.co.uk). For those not aware of MineBack, MineBack (free) is a freeware automated backup solution for MineCraft running on Microsoft Windows (Creepers, MineBacks got your number). Its simple and easy to use and a great free backup solution.
The offer is for the next 50 copies registered and runs until January 13th next year. Even if you don't wish to register, I can still recommend downloading MineBack (free) to protect your world.
Thanks everyone
Merry Christmas!

Uh, wait, you want people to pay you to use this?
You know with Minecraft you're not allowed to truly SELL or require people to buy anything that involves Minecraft. It all has to be free with an OPTION to donate if people want. This also means no 'free' version then a 'pay' version. it -all- has to be free.
So in a sense.. if you require people to buy to use.. this is illegal.

I feel you ought to read my post carefully Taiine.
Also, I would suggest you download MineBack (Free) and see just how good it is. Sure MineBack Ultimate is better, but then years of refinement will do that.
I have no wish to obligate anyone and this isn't a MineCraft mod anyway, it doesn't use any of the MineCraft code or assets. This is a companion tool whos primary focus is on making backup and managing worlds.
Read a thing thougoughly and find out all the facts next time is my suggestion :).
Though thanks for adding to my thread! All feedback is very welcome.

I had an email from a Windows 8 registered user who seems to be having problems getting the map editing to work for them. For some reason your not receiving incomming email through normal channels so if you would like to post a screenshot of any error message your receiving with a few details here I can look into it for you (it has to be specific to your particular case).
I've tested MineBack Pro. and Ultimate on Windows Vista and Windows 7 without any problems for both new worlds and my existing upgrade worlds and everything is working correctly.
I have no reason to susspect there should be problems with World Editing on Windows 8. However, I don't have a copy of Windows 8 to test with right now.

I got your email today Matt, I must have just missed it when it arrived (I was on checking them about an hour before lol).
I've looked at the problem right away and noticed something which im fixing now. If the level.dat grows beyond a certain expected size range and the world name happens to be located low down in the file code which is responsible for quickly parsing the name of the world can fail on versions below 10.0.0.0. Gladly this does not affect the backup process, but does give a rather nasty error message instead of the world name in the success dialog. I'll release a v10.0.0.1 by the end of the day today resolving this.
Thanks for your email! Thanks to everyone who uses MineBack .
First, let me say that Mineback is a really nifty program. First, for being able to save and restore games, and second for being able to see a list of backups with descriptions of interesting moments/highlights that you can return to. Not sure why more people don't use it! I know you can backup a world directly in MineCraft but it's a zip file and nowhere near as streamlined as this utility.
There's a small "bug" with Mineback Free, I believe caused by the growing number of entries in level.dat in the newer versions. At some point, I think when the number of recipes exceeded a certain number, the world name in MineBack displayed as blank. I think perhaps the program is not looking far enough in Level.dat for the world name.
I thought perhaps the reason was that the file was corrupted, so I created a new world, and copied all the folders and elements in level.dat to the new world. The world name displayed correctly up until I tried to copy the entries in the recipes folder in level.dat from the old world to the new one. If I went beyond 10 recipes and 12 toBeDisplayed recipes, I'd get a message saying that level.dat was locked. If I added 2 more recipes and tried to lauch MineBack, it would hang. This is strange because it worked with a much higher number of recipes in the original world, the only issue there was that the name was blank.
Another way to replicate this issue (in Minecraft Java 1.20) is to create a new world in Minecraft, use the command to give yourself all the recipes, then save the game. If you try to launch MineBack Free, it will hang. Not sure why it hangs in this situation whereas in the original world the only problem is that the world name is blank, maybe the physical/chronological order the information is saved in level.dat is different?
Seems like a small fix if you have a minute or two to look at it. Thanks in advance!
