What I'm working on today
It's been an interesting day all in all. I hope to have something a bit exciting for the next release of MineBack Ultimate. I'm not saying too much, don't want to disapoint... whats definitely going to be in the next release is Map / NBT search and replace functionality *waggles eyebrows*. That itself is quite nice, but I've got something more brewing.
Will keep you all posted.

I have move my schedule up a bit to, I have had to hold back my "something special" for another release. This release has lots of good stuff though. The NBT editor is more comprehensive, it knows how to create inventory slots (previously it was only possible to edit existing inventory). It knows how to add mob types (though you have to fill in the coordinates etc yourself, something for future release). NBT search and replace is great, had fun turning all the villagers into spider... abitary but fun.
I also decided to turn all the leaves in the world into bricks. hehe.

Since its taking a while to do, I thought I'd just make a quick post of what I'm up to.
I'm hoping to add (in the progress of creating) a complete, fast, 3D visualiser for map sections. The first draft will probably just been the blocks rendered up into a scalable model. Had some early success but still climbing the hill of Pixel and Vertex shading. I want it fast and fully hardware accellerated. It's going to be DirectX only. I am currently considering wether to have it as an integrated part of MineBack or as a side-by-side tool. I'll keep everyone posted.

Wow... the map generator has taking an interesting turn. I've got alot yet to do, but if things continue the way they have so far I'll have to release something new, a companion tool to MineBack Ultimate and MineCraft. Since the new code is all in C++ I'll have to do alot of testing before releasing it. I'll keep everyone posted.

Well, the news so far is that the Map Editor has turned into a MineCraft world Viewing tool. I've hit a delay in getting something tangable out there in that I've needed to update the Map Editor built into MineBack Ultimate to allow free roaming editing (as apose to per, region, chunk, block). Which required a caching system to function efficiently.
Until I've completed and released that update I won't be able to release the world viewing component.
I will set myself a target for having the updated Map Editing completed and released for next Monday.

Got some more time today to work on my new world visualiser. The only problem is there is so much I could add to it, its hard to set priorites / decide whats most usefull / fun. Focusing on the simple stuff for now, look and feel, making it feel natural to use.

Still not got the update out. Theres just so much I want to get right, MineBack Ultimate is pure excellence and I don't want this latest addition to be less than the best. I do want to get it out this year though.. lol. So I'm pushing myself to get things ready.
If it wasn't the best I wouldn't build it ;).

Released update version of MineBack Ultimate. Registered users please upgrade.
Fixed: Superflat worlds causing incorrect "backup failure" message. Fixed: Augmentation process not working after adding chunk caching. Added: Mob remover. Clears all the mobs from a chunk or entire region (superflat worlds have a ridiculously high spawn rate for slimes).
Thanks everyone.

Currently working on: Lighting.
Having seen what OpenGL does out of the box, I figured DX lighting would be a snap. Turns out though, lighting is incredibly complex for anything simpler than a general and unrealistic shaded feeling. I'll keep working on it though, see if I can't make something worthy.

*come up for air* *gasps*
So I've been coding like mad for days. It seems the more things I get right the more there is to add. lol. Though its good to see things steadily growing.
Just a basic note to say that MineBack Ultimate was updated last week (didn't get time until now to update these pages).

It's been a busy weekend!
MineBack Ultimate now allows arbitrary file(s) or folder(s) to be added easily into the backup process via the settings screen. There is an option to automatically add MineCraft.jar into the backup process (turned off by default, but easily enabled via check box on the settings page). Adding this is great if you like playing with mods alot since reverting to a working world becomes a one step process!
Happy Mining!

Getting back to work with the World Visualisation tool..
(KVKConsultancy, author of MineBack - MineCraft Automated Backup)
Lots of work still to do, wanting to keep the performance as high as possible whilst giving the best representation of the game world.
If anyone wants anything special in the world viewer im creating, just post an ask and I'll see what can be done.
