ok i have randomobs with many using hat layer. when these are spawned as babies the hat layer doesn't show so those ones look incorrect. is there a way to force baby zombie to only use one texture? any help much appreciated.
All zombies after 1.5 have a different texture, that is double in height. For instance, the default zombie has a normal texture on top and a zombie villager texture under it. Make sure you change the canvas size so they all render properly.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the problem at hand.
The problem is that the baby versions just don't render the hat layer. It's the same as the heads when used as blocks: no hat layer is rendered so details dependent on it won't show up. You just have to design around that, I'm afraid.

Sorry.
You used a lot of these in my opinion
But seriously, this is yet another thing that Mojang should fix to beniefit resource packs. Just like adding the record names to the language files.
